Artic Wildlife Senter

The highlight of this eastervacation was our visit to the Artic Wildlife Senter in Bardu. My son was actually really sad cause he didnt get to go to the waterpark due to his earinfection, but belive me the Artic Wildlife Senter went above and beyond anything he could have imagined. He was almost like a kid in a candystore =P

The trip was so successful that my sister and her family just had to go visit the Senter when they drove home on monday. Cause we actually got to see a guided tour with feeding of some of the animals. It was so extremly worth each dime =P And it wasnt that expencive either. It was £21,50 for adults and £12,50 for kids between 3 and 15 years of age. And even in rain, some wet snow and wind alot of people came to look at the animals.

Here is some pictures that I choose, cause I took ALOT of photos...lol The photoanimal in me took totally over.

The stag was looking out on his territorie. The female was just too busy eating =P

Got a picture of the lynx that really shows that it is of the cat family. It was so much fun to follow what they were doing. They followed us when we walked along the paths. And they had just had breedingtime so in may-june they might have 11 lynx's all together. The animalcaretaker was actually inside with the lynx and to keep them on arms length she was throwing the food away from herself. =)

The pretty lynx sitting there watching us. Babygirl was saying "pusa, pusa" all the time. It is her way of saying pus which means cat/kitten in norwegian.

The moose just didnt wanna be in my picture so he turned his behind to the camera and walked away =P

Here the caretaker is in with the polarfoxes. The one you see here is the female. And she is bullied by the two males so she quickly learned to jump onto the caretakers neck to get food and eat in peace. These foxes are born at the senter and have been raised there. =)

Here are the two males. Was a little bit hard to manage to get a photo of the white foxes against the white snow...lol But I managed to capture a few good ones. At the foxes you could also buy something called a fox visit. It means you get to join the caretaker in to the foxes and feed them yourself. And anyone can go on fox visit, there is no age limitation. They are like small dogs =)

Here is my absolute favourite. The wolfs. Such amazing animals. In this area there was 3 wolfs, 2 males and one female. These three were socialized wolfs and you could buy wolf visit. You have to be 18 years or older to join the wolf visit, you have to have good health and as well be able to obey the caretakers every command.

I simply love this picture. The male had just gotten some food and was licking his mouth to get every little yummi taste of the food. We also got to hear the wolfs howl. It was so beautiful I almost started crying. Cause hearing and seeing wolfs has been a childhood dream of mine.

These two are the bears Salt and Pepper. Salt and Pepper are famous bears, they were actually born at the senter and quickly became celebritys. Here you can see Pepper shadowboxing, almost looked like he was dancing to "stop in the name of love". And cute little sister Salt was just sitting there with her hands folded waiting for food =)

This bulky old dude is Truls. He is the oldest bear in the park. He was huge, and kind of a actor =P

This is Artic Wildlife Senters newest addition to the bear population. This one was itty bitty and soooo cute. When the mom came walking up with this little one, everyone watching went quiet and then we all let a Awwwwww fall =) Truls (the dad) was over trying to sniff the little one, but got a hefty smack over the nose by the mom. This because the male bears can kill their offspring just to be allowed to mate again. But when the mom smacked Truls he got this amazingly cute hurt look in his eyes. Like he was so sad cause he just wanted to smell the little bear =P

Here is actually a picture of Truls when he was smelling the baby. And you can really see that the baby was so afraid of him. And knowing what Truls could do you really understand why =)

This is the mamabear and babybear together. And you can really see how tiny this young bear really is. Such a cute little one =)

Didnt really get many good photos of the musk ox. But on this one you can really see how dangerous he looks. At least I think so. He has that "dont even tempt me" look in his eyes.

And here is a photo of the wolverine Arne. He was really really shy so it was a mighty difficult subject to get a photo off. But I just had to tell the caretaker that he didnt look anything like Hugh Jackman =P And that really made us all laugh =)

Here is the video from the whole eastervacation =)
